Course Description
Course Objectives
- Understand the Fundamentals of Implant Dentistry:Gain a comprehensive understanding of the key concepts of implant dentistry, including patient selection, surgical anatomy, and tissue handling, essential for safe and predictable implant placement.
- Master Implant Surgery Protocols:Learn the step-by-step procedures for proper drilling protocols and implant placement, emphasizing the importance of precision and technique in achieving optimal results.
- Develop Competence in Complication Management:Explore common complications associated with implant surgery and learn evidence-based strategies for prevention, identification, and management of these complications.
- Acquire Hands-On Implant Surgery Experience:Perform implant surgery on a pre-selected case under the direct supervision of Dr. Dagher, applying learned techniques to real-life scenarios and receiving personalized feedback for skill development.
- Collaborate as Part of an Implantology Team:Understand the critical roles of dental team members in implant surgery, from planning and sterilization to surgical setup, and enhance teamwork through collaborative learning.
- Comply with Regulatory and Professional Guidelines:Ensure compliance with the guidelines set by the Royal College of Dental Surgeons of Ontario (RCDSO) and the Ordre des dentistes du Québec (ODQ), with a focus on patient safety, ethical practices, and legal considerations in implant dentistry.
- Enhance Diagnostic and Planning Skills:Learn how to utilize diagnostic tools such as CBCT and intraoral scanning to create detailed implant treatment plans, ensuring precision in implant placement and restoration.
- Prepare for Full-Spectrum Implantology Practice:Develop the confidence and skills to plan, place, and restore dental implants within a clinical setting, while also gaining insights into the roles of auxiliary team members in supporting implant procedures.
- Integrate Evidence-Based Best Practices in Implantology:Explore current research and evidence-based practices in implant dentistry, applying these insights to enhance treatment outcomes and patient care.
- Support the Role of Auxiliary Team Members in Implant Procedures:Equip auxiliary team members with the knowledge and skills necessary to assist in implant surgeries, including understanding sterilization protocols, surgical component management, and observing surgeries for skill enhancement.
